When I showed you this bowl last week, a couple of people commented that it would look better with more flowers. I whole heartedly agreed, so set about making a few more adornments.
They’re super quick and easy to make so I thought you might like to see the process.
The finished product is a perfect way to use up fabric scraps and lonely buttons, plus they make beautiful, versatile and quick gifts!
scraps of fabric
2 round objects to draw around (different sizes)
pins (not shown)
tailors chalk (not shown)
Optional supplies for fastening the flowers to badges or hair clips…
Step 1 – draw around your round objects.
You need to cut 1 of the larger circles and 4 of the smaller ones.
I knew that I was going to make a few flowers so I layered multiple pieces to be cut through at once.
The best bit is that they’re so quick and simple to make that it doesn’t matter if you don’t love the finished result. It’s easy to alter until you do.
This one I trimmed to make smaller and then finished with pinking shears.
And to this one, I added another folded layer of the larger circles before backing it with one large circle.
And that’s it. If you wanted, you could add a pin badge or hair clip (like I’ve shown at the top), or you could add it to the bowl!
And then I stuck them to the bowl. Now you can’t see any evidence of my clumsiness. Still undecided as to whether I should add lots more, but I don’t want to cover all the beautiful lace work on the bowl. What do you think?
